About Me in a Marriage Biodata: 50 Examples (English and Hindi)

On this page
The About me section of a marriage biodata is three to five sentences that help families get a feel for the person behind the details. In your own voice, say:
- what you do
- what your family is like
- what you value and enjoy
- what kind of life partner you hope for
Keep it warm, specific and honest, between 40 and 80 words. Below are 50 examples you can adapt, including lines parents can use and examples in Hindi.
In short
- Sentence 1: who you are and what you do.
- Sentence 2: your family and where you grew up.
- Sentence 3: your values or nature, shown through something specific.
- Sentence 4: what you enjoy.
- Sentence 5 (optional): the partner and life you hope for.
- Write in the first person ("I") if you write it yourself, or in the third person ("our son", "our daughter") if parents write it.
How to write the About me section
Start with facts, then add one or two specific details that only you could write. "I love travelling" could be anyone. "I try to visit one new hill station every year and plan the whole trip myself" is clearly you.
Here is the formula at work:
"I'm a chartered accountant in Mumbai (who you are) and grew up in a joint family in Ahmedabad (family). I value honesty and like to keep my promises, however small (values). Weekends usually mean badminton, a long phone call with my grandmother and trying a new recipe (interests). I hope to marry someone warm and easy-going who enjoys a simple home life (partner)."
That is 70 words, and a family reading it already has a picture of him.

What not to write in About me
- Complexion, weight or "fair". Families increasingly find it off-putting, and it says nothing about who you are.
- Only clichés. "I am simple and honest" is fine as a start, but add one specific detail.
- A list of demands. Keep partner hopes to one kind sentence; detailed preferences go in the Partner preferences section.
- Salary and property. These belong in the career section, or in a conversation later.
- Long paragraphs. More than about 100 words starts to feel like an essay on a phone screen.
- Copied text. Use these examples as a starting point and change the details so it sounds like you.
Where to put it in your biodata
The About me section usually sits after family details and before partner preferences, or right under the name and photo in modern designs. On ModernShaadi, tap Add to biodata on the About section in the details and type or paste your text. The biodata updates as you type, and the text shrinks to fit the page. You can make the whole biodata in Hindi, too, and the plain Sahaj design is free to download.
Frequently asked questions
How long should the About me section be in a marriage biodata?
Three to five sentences, or roughly 40 to 80 words. That's long enough to give a real picture of the person and short enough to read comfortably on a phone.
Should About me be written in the first person or the third person?
Use the first person ("I") if you write it yourself. If parents are writing it for their son or daughter, the third person ("our daughter is…") reads naturally and is very common.
What should I write in About me for a marriage biodata?
Say what you do, a little about your family, your values or nature, what you enjoy, and the kind of partner or life you hope for. Add one specific detail so it sounds like you.
Should I mention partner expectations in the About me section?
One kind sentence is enough, such as "I hope to marry someone warm who values family." Put detailed preferences like age, education and location in the separate Partner preferences section.
Can I write About me in Hindi?
Yes. Many families prefer Hindi, and a biodata can be made entirely in Hindi. The six Hindi examples above can be adapted the same way as the English ones.
